Eating in Los Angeles, the city of health-consciousis more than just eating.
Here, explore the new restaurants in LA:
Manuela Restaurant
LA DOWNTOWN
Hauser Wirth & Schimmel is a power house of contemporary art, much of it trading in edgy provocation. But the gallery’s restaurant is down right homey.
The best dishes reflect chef Wes Whitsell’s Southern roots: smoked pork shoulder with greens and cider; half chicken with dirty rice. The menu touts farmers’
market produce, but we’re here for the Redneck prosciutto, pimento
cheese, biscuits, and deviled eggs.

Jun Won
KOREATOWN
THE ORIGINAL JUN Won closed abruptly last
spring, but the celebrated seafood-centric Korean
restaurant has been reincarnated as a stylish dining
room in a shopping center. Jung Ye Jun and her son, Jeff, are as hospitable as ever, and
the menu stars such favorites as spicy pollock soup,
neatly stacked bo ssam ( pork belly), whole fried fish, and braised kimchi
with short rib.

Da Kikokiko
PLAYA VISTA
Poke is everywhere, and it’s here to stay. Brooke Williamson
(the Tripel, Playa Provisions) is the second Top Chef alum to jump on the
Hawaiian bandwagon, joining Dakota Weiss, who opened Sweetfin two years
ago. The relaxed spot also has a (very) short list of musubi that includes
Spam and salmon with
yuzu kosho.
